Ocean Reef Full Face mask can be a great addition to your PADI IDC image

Live your dream to live the life of a scuba instructor. Imagine the possibilities and of course, the locales available for a PADI Scuba Instructor. There are more job opportunities for a scuba instructor than any other position in the scuba industry. Being part of the PADI organization provides you with access to jobs around the world. In as little as nine days, you can begin your journey to your new profession in a new direction.

The Instructor Development Course (IDC) is two courses rolled into one, Assistant Instructor (AI) and Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI). The first portion of the IDC is the Assistant Instructor (AI) Course which exists for people who do not have the time or the desire to become an Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI). Both courses taught concurrently make up the IDC.

The IDC is a 9-Day program that introduces the candidate to the PADI System of Instruction and provides a learning environment to practice the wide variety of courses an Open Water Scuba Instructor is certified to teach. During this program, the candidate will learn how to teach using the PADI System in Confined Water, the Classroom, and Open Water. The candidate will be tested on Dive Theory, General Standards and Procedures as well as their teaching presentations.

At the conclusion of the IDC, you will have the necessary tools to attend the Instructor Examination (IE) given by a PADI Examiner. The IE is merely a quality control check to ensure that the candidate understands the PADI System of Instruction and knows how to apply that knowledge.

As an Instructor you will be able to teach a wide array of classes from Discover Scuba all the way through the PADI Divemaster Course and be able to lead certified divers on tours of your local reefs. This means that you will have the ability to show anyone the wonders of the world's oceans through the Discover Scuba Diving Course, as well as beginning a scuba divers adventure into the underwater world with the Open Water Course. Teaching others about the world of scuba diving allows you to relive the first moments when you fell in love with the ocean and all it holds.

The PADI Instructor Development Course is the next step in your professional training after the Divemaster course.

Through the IDC, you will learn many new tips and tricks that will allow you to become a better diver and allow you to teach your future students to experience and appreciate the amazing creatures you see while diving in the ocean.
